Credit Union CEO Faces Bull Ride to Raise Money for Junior Achievement

Lenexa, KS (06/12/2007) -- Dennis Pierce, CEO of CommunityAmerica Credit Union, will ride a mechanical bull to benefit Junior Achievement on Thursday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan.

A good cause: Pierce told credit union staff he would ride the bull and make an additional gift of up to $5,000 if they exceeded a $30,000 Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon goal. (They collected more than $38,000.) The longer he rides, the less he will be obligated to contribute. Matt Dillane, president and executive director of Junior Achievement, will control the mechanical bull ride and will be trying to "throw" Pierce quickly to get the maximum additional contribution. (Pierce has been practicing.)

Lots of visuals: In addition to the CEO's mechanical bull ride, approximately 4,500 are expected to attend the credit union's annual meeting and will be running the bases, playing arcade games, enjoying a kids' arts and crafts tent and inflatable play attractions, registering for big prizes, and enjoying ballpark food and drinks. Fireworks will conclude the annual meeting at 9 p.m.

On-site assistance: Call Coleen Hotop at 816-309-6558 or Morgan Johnson at 913-687-5465 upon arrival at the ballpark.

WHO: Dennis Pierce, CEO of CommunityAmerica Credit Union, and approximately 4,500 credit union members and staff.
